Saturday, January 14: Workout #5 — Slow, but steady

Usually the turnaround between the Friday evening workout and the Saturday morning one is difficult for me, but today I was feeling pretty good which is a positive sign.

Pleased to report we did the same type of warmup game this morning that we did last night and no pratfalls were involved.

We practiced handstand push ups. Am starting to like these, even though I can’t do them lol. I worked through some of my apprehension about doing the handstand in general — towards the end I was able to do a bit of a runner into the handstand as opposed to my runner – stop – place hands on ground – attempt handstand sequence. There was no chance of me getting the actual push up today, think I need more work on my positioning beforehand (getting my butt close to the wall, my hands a little further out, etc). Will work on these tomorrow in open gym I think.

The WOD was a chipper of 500M Row, 400M Run (! – after the row?!), 50 air squats, 40 push ups, 30 overhead lunges, 20 burpees, 10 pullups. I did OK. Except for the burpees, I was able to keep moving throughout. I was surprised I was slowest in the class today, because I didn’t FEEL that slow. But I felt pretty good afterwards, which tells me I needed to have taken it up a notch intensity wise. Certainly the WODs are feeling different this week than last, which is a good sign. Am starting to get a little bit of confidence back.
